Random impressions on a Thursday, inspired by "Fresh" on VH1:
- Madonna's new song "Give It 2 Me" -- It's an ok song, kinda catchy, until the "Get Stupid" breakdown in the middle. It's well... you can guess. I'm all for a strong woman making statements at any age... but, Madge, they have to be GOOD to make any difference.
- Little Jackie's "The World Should Revolve Around Me" -- Again, catchy. I could see this one being a Summer of '08 One Hit Wonder! We'll see.
- I still fuckin' hate Coldplay.
- Am I the only one who thinks John Mayer sounds like he has a chest cold AND a mouthful of mashed potatoes? Listening to him gives me a headache.
- Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" -- Um, it's a catchy song with a good beat. But remember when Jill Sobule did that concept? Back when it was kind of risque'? Apparently all she needed was a backbeat and a rapper boyfriend to be one of summer's over-played hits.
I was off from work yesterday b/c my inability to focus on anything more than a foot in front of my face makes driving scary. Jake dropped me off at my car this morning, and I got it home by closing my right eye and just going really slowly. I am too chicken to drive back, and I am also not relishing having to squint at customers all day; B said it was ok to be off since we are generally not super-busy on Weds or Thurs. But, seriously, this eye shit is a bummer....
I'm on a real French song kick. I don't understand all the words, but they sound damned sexy. This song ("Bonnie and Clyde") is no exception.
