I'm wondering about the risk of toxoplasmosis from cleaning an indoor cat's litterbox. My midwife told me that for no reason was I to clean the litterbox so I haven't been. I know a lot of women brush off toxoplasmosis because it is so rare, but I have a question in case someone has an answer. Google tells me that a woman is most likely to pass it on to her unborn child in her third trimester, but it is much less severe. Any of you single & have cats? If we're not supposed to change litterboxes while pregnant, how do you get it done?

I'm curious about the disease Toxoplasmosis. Is it only transmitted if you come in direct contact with cat feces, NOT just by smelling it? My apartment is tiny and the only place to fit a cat litter box is in the bathroom in my bedroom. My cat was a previous outdoor cat, and I just want to make sure i'm not in any danger of hurting my unborn baby.
