So in my Jon/Ygritte post a few days ago I said I was going to hold off on doing my whole thing about Jon and bastardry, and then in comments I started inadvertently doing my whole thing about Jon and bastardry anyway, so I thought I'd write at least some of it out.

This is something that I think about a fair amount, but various media/fandom developments of the last few weeks have brought it to the front of my mind. The first half of this post is about ~stuff generally; the second half is specific to how it's apparently the Dean/Cas week of our ~cycle in Supernatural fandom.

I loved S8 of Supernatural for a lot of reasons, most of which were emphatically the opposite of "profound." A few of them, though, were at least to me kind of a big deal.
