Another half day gone just like that with last minute admin requirements...Surely it shouldn't happen so regularly (not even counting the multiple days on the DFAT 4 warning fiasco)...

And have to leave early for med apptmt (very unlikely to be anything serious).

(Vaguely) apropos of Kathryn's post:  DEET is neurotoxic.

I've always been a bit dubious about its proclaimed safety, and preferred not to use it, but with recent tropical projects and high risk of malaria (and also given how I imagined I'd feel if I caught malaria in the course of work), I've been using it quite a lot :-(  Ugh.

I'm procrastinating in order to deliberately be late to a seminar.  Not a real seminar, the one where I can win a bike [1]. The seminar is for "Men's Health Week", and I don't mean to demean the cause, but... their selling point for this seminar is that they have an AFL player as guest speaker [2].  Also I doubt they'd be saying anything anything ( Read more... )

The South Pacific tropical islands went ok, was quite productive, but am a bit sad that it's probably my last trip with that project (maybe a Canberra visit in Nov).  Also feel a bit flat or maybe lacking in closure about it, as the other two members of team who went are still there until Thurs (I came back to work on another project).

I'm kinda hungover and haven't been to the gym in three weeks.
Bloody girliejones  is sounding WAY too healthy. :-P

I currently have three (3) burns on my hands from cooking.  Toaster burn on knuckle of right thumb, several fried onion burns on back of left hand, cookie tray blister on right index finger.

Hypotheses:
1. Out of practice after break from cooking;
2. Alcohol;
3. Brain tumour (kuru? leprosy? M.S.?).
