I talked to two people this week about how I am envious of your talent. I would love to go into the arts, but I don't have a gift like you. So I am a social science major. What the hell kind of a job am I supposed to get with social science ( ... )

I don't know how much you really know about my "musical talent", but allow me to set you straight.

In everything that I do (in regards to music), I (personally) know a dozen people who do it better. I'm not over exaggerating, in fact I'm downplaying it a bit. I'm just not that good. I'm not fishing for compliments.

For over half of my life I have been involved with music. Everyone along the way told me all of these words of encouragement. Nobody bothered to tell me the reality of the situation. Just to give you an example: Did you know that all of the good paying horn gigs in the LA area are taken by 5 people? It is not just stiff competiton. It is not to be overcome by hard work. It is damn nigh insur-fucking-mountable.

I don't know if I am wallowing in self-pity, and I don't really care. I understand what you are trying to say, and your intent for saying it. But I think that you and Eric may not know all there is to know about the subject.

I've probably told myself everthing you have told me here a 100 times over.

Well Eric, you seem to think that I know nothing -at all- about the "real world". I never said I was the Encyclopedia fucking Britannica, but I do know what I'm talking about ( ... )

I don't know if you realize that you could have anything or anyone if you set your mind to it.
I don't say that to just anyone, because some people just fail at life. You, however, do not.
