Andrew,

I don't really post much, but come on.

First off.

1) You have one heck of a talent for music. I'm not a trained ear, but I can tell you know what you are talking about when it has to do with lyrics/vocals/all that stuff. You're good. You're naturally good at that stuff. I can respect that.

Now that that's out of the way.

How in the hell can you say there is no future for you in music? Have you really went out and tried to pursue anything towards it at all?

You've got a LOT of spare time, bro. You haven't had a job in the last year or so. You've had the opportunity to be a full time student, and have a decent level of comfort while doing it. Do you know how many people would love to be in that sort of situation? (myself included?)

Have you been getting shot down at performances, or have places you're tried out at been constantly telling you that you have no future in music? How many places have you DRIVEN down to? What's been happening during all this other time to get you so down?

Look. Before you make statements about how the world works.
Have you ever moved out? Had to pay bills? Pay car insurance? Anything like that? Have you been out on your own?

Christ, Andrew. I expect better of you, because I know you're capable of more. This post reeks of wallowing in self pity, and someone who sees themself in the same place they were at when they were 18. I know that you're worth more than this sad, sad post. Go do something more productive than "Blame God" .(come on!), and surf the net. Andrew. You're much more intelligent, much more capable, and hopefully more strong willed than this lame, lame post.

Argh!

I don't know how much you really know about my "musical talent", but allow me to set you straight.

In everything that I do (in regards to music), I (personally) know a dozen people who do it better. I'm not over exaggerating, in fact I'm downplaying it a bit. I'm just not that good. I'm not fishing for compliments.

For over half of my life I have been involved with music. Everyone along the way told me all of these words of encouragement. Nobody bothered to tell me the reality of the situation. Just to give you an example: Did you know that all of the good paying horn gigs in the LA area are taken by 5 people? It is not just stiff competiton. It is not to be overcome by hard work. It is damn nigh insur-fucking-mountable.

I don't know if I am wallowing in self-pity, and I don't really care. I understand what you are trying to say, and your intent for saying it. But I think that you and Eric may not know all there is to know about the subject.

I've probably told myself everthing you have told me here a 100 times over.

Dude..

Hey! How do you measure what's better in music? When I'm in figure drawing class, If someone's gestures are better than mine, should I just quit?

By the way. Disney shut down their feature film animation department. So theres a bunch of animators looking for work, with disney on their resume. Should I just not bother to try and get a drawing gig now? Fuck NO!

That's right, guy! You like music. But It looks like it'll really take work to get some sort of a musical career going. So why try? Is that what you're trying to say?

Also, these five guys.. Did they just walk in and get these jobs? Did they just materialize out of nowhere and have this amazing skill for music? Are they ALL UNDER THE AGE OF TWENTY TWO? Or did some of them have to practice and work to be in demand?

Do you network? Do you actively search and look for jobs? Do you ask your connections to the music industry what's going on? Or do you check a website once in a while?

I know you're not fishing for compliments. I'm telling you to get off your ass, and do something. You write something out there as prissy as your last post, expect some sort of an answer, unless I just didn't give a flying fuck about you. You give me half of the story, and you'll get an answer as such.

Thing is, like before. I told you. You have had an opportunity to pursue music for a LONG time, on other people's dollar signs. You are VERY VERY lucky in that aspect.

How much time have you spent doing it?

If you've told yourself everything I've told you 100 times over, then you sure sound like your wallowing in self pity, alright?

Dude, you just come off as someone who just throws in the towel before he really tried. And before you assume anything, I'm not equating this anything like excercise, or video games, I'm talking about following your dreams.

I don't see you telling people how the real world works. I find it a big offense that you, of all people would tell other poeple that people shouldn't try and follow their dreams, because the "real world" doesnt work that way.

What is the real world like? Tell me how the real world is from behind the computer screen, Andrew. I see you living a very comfortable life compared to many, many other people around.

It's an arrogant statement, and it comes from very, very shaky ground Andrew.

If it's just you, sitting at yourself and feeling all depressed, then you wouldn't be talking.

Apathy is the worst thing to have, trust me. If you just sit and don't give a flying crap about anything. Then that's worse than not even trying. You mentally stagnate, and just get worse. Trust me. I just don't think you're really tried hard. Get out of the fucking comfort bubble, and REALLY try before you just sit in your warm room and surf the net. Or put another 10 hours into Final Fantasy XI.

And realize that you also have friends who can help you, and are there for you. And actually THINK about the responsibilities they have as well, the thigns they have to go through, and the living situations they have compared to you, and just apprecate what you have for christs sake.

But most importantly, realize that you do have friends.

Lates, dude.
