I'm still liking Gwen more, but that whole stupid "I'm kissing Rhys but I'm looking at YOU, Jack"/"I would!" thing was rubbish. Those two have no chemistry whatsoever, I'm sorry. They just have to let it go.

Wow. That was a fucking excellent episode of Doctor Who. Steven Moffat is more or less my favourite DW writer. And the Captain is back next week! Shame Ianto isn't involved, but never mind.

Ooh! The Culture Show is showing archive footage of The Kinks playing Waterloo Sunset. That's a brilliant song.

OK, here's why I thought this episode was vastly superior.

1. Decent writing (unlike Random bleedin' Shoes).
2. Everybody's character was developed in some way, and everybody got a few decent lines, at least.
3. Gwen's character is getting seriously dark, and Eve Miles did a really good job conveying her emotions (yeah, I know that's what actors are  ( Read more... )

I don't know about the rest of the world, but I thought it was pretty damn good, myself. Just a few things bothered me:

1. What happened to Gwen/Owen? Did it just fizzle out?

2. Jack and Ianto got, what, fifteen seconds together? The only truly couple-y moment was when Ianto threw Jack his coat. Even if they're just screwing, I was hoping for more ( Read more... )

I would like to confirm that that episode of Torchwood was brilliance incarnate. Gwen is beginning to get on my nerves slightly, I must admit, BUT I swear to G-d Ianto brushed Jack's chest after he handed him the coffee, I am 100% sure. Also, they've both lost the loves of their respective lives now. Empathy is a powerful aphrodisiac, right? Ahem.
