The Hon. Winston Hubert McIntosh O.M. would have celebrated his 68th birthday. Jah Live!
In honor of his birthday there have been several events this week including a nice deal on the deluxe editions of his two Columbia albums from Pop Market. These are amazing records which every self respecting music fan should at least hear -

"Reggae superstar Peter Tosh and another man known as 'Doctor' were shot dead at the singer's Plymouth Avenue home at about 8:30 last night. Congratulations Peter, it's about time.
Twenty-five years after his murder, Peter Tosh, was awarded The Jamaican Order of Merit (O.M.), one of the Nation's highest honors for his outstanding contributions to Jamaican culture. Hello Kiddies,
There isn't a whole lot to get excited about in the back catalog dept, but the folks at Sony Legacy finally got one right. A decade ago, SL & EMI respectfuly reissued the Peter Tosh catalog. Peter Tosh has of course played perennial second fiddle to Bob Marley, however Tosh's first two albums get the grand style treatment this time ( Read more... )
