Snow Ahead!?

Rumor has it this is going to be a winter to put 2006/07 and 2008/09 (and according to one guy at work, the last 50 years) to shame. We've been getting possible snow shower predictions for Saturday, then things turn cold. Mid 20's cold when it's sunny. Whee! Apparently it is some sort of La Nina thing. I missed the worst of 2008 because I was in WW, and although there was like, 2 feet of snow on the ground (a lot more fell), it's WW and its flat and everyone can deal with it.

Here in Seattle, where the entire city and all the surrounding cities are built on hills, it is much more complicated. In 2008 the idiot mayor decided salt was too toxic to use or something. He had sand put down, which didn't work well, and later on it caused chaos in the sewer system. Plus we found out way late that the city doesn't plow roads unless a citizen specifically requests a particular street be plowed. Shameful! I remember my grandpa used to go out and plow crazy narrow roads on the hills of Idaho, and I bet the citizens didn't have to ask! It's disgraceful.

Damian has never seen snow. I've been telling him about it. There is that special time in the morning just after (or during) a fresh snowfall, when everything is so white and clean and quiet. You know? There is not a sound. Most people (even the kids) are staying indoors, and there might only be a few tracks from cars on the roads. It's a special thing. You feel like no one else is out there.

I haven't lived here in Lake City for a while, so we will see how it is. Living on an off-ramp was different. Can you believe this is going to be the fifth winter since I moved to Seattle? How has this happened already? I feel old :-(

The important question is, will snowfall affect my hopes of getting out on Sunday to see Harry Potter? Only if the buses shut down! A little snow never killed anyone! (Ok it has, but eh.)
