The Queen's Consort and his Wife

May 06, 2011 08:46

Such is this time of year that I am most likely to leave the fandom. This is the third year in a row, and can't it be over now? The Sookie hate, and the complaints about the books drive me up the wall. I almost left this time last year - so I'm not really talking anywhere but here, where I can blast the hell out of negative Nellies in the ( Read more... )

Fucking hell <-- that was me having a PMR-induced epiphany. Sorry for swearing in your LJ (you know I rarely mean it when I excuse my swearing, but it`s a nice habit :-D), but two and two really came together as four now ( ... )

I totally thought that OK wanted Sookie as a deal package with Eric. I don't care how hot Eric is, nobody is that hot. Although Sookie thinks so (it cracked me up when she realized the Queen had probably seen him before). I just thought it was weird that Eric and Pam didn't realize that. It just goes to show how Eric isn't as smart as he think he is.

I think Eric isn't making any assumptions. I have the luxury of being wrong and not being killed. :D

That's true. Also true is the fact that Eric never really shares everything he is thinking with Sookie, so he might be considering that.

I'll cackle manically with you if the breaking of the bond prevents Eric from taking Sookie to OK with him! :D

I miss the HP fandom and the HP books. It was a lot more sane. And let's face it, the books were a lot superior ( ... )

I agree with you on the "good Christian" thing. It would be an entirely weird and probably offensive thing to say here. I liked that she mentioned in passing that you can actually be a good person without being Christian, but most of the time that`s not what we hear.

But I write that off as a cultural thing. Sookie`s brought up with "Christian values". So am I, probably, but we call it something else.

I think it`s important in our understanding of Sookie. She is trying to hold onto something. Something that`s hers, something she thinks is right. And it`s just not possible in a vampire world.

I don't agree that the HP books were superior, actually. There was never this much subtext in HP - there was a lot of mythology and symbolism, but not emotional and political subtext ( ... )

And I need to learn to reread and preview my comments. The amount of errors above is astounding. Sorry about that, I'm just lazy and I tend to type really fast.

Great post. You hedged your bets, but I think you are right-- of course Oklahoma wants Eric for Sookie! It is too perfect and I can’t wait to see how it plays out. If CH wants to punish Eric for a millennia of misdeeds, she could have him choose OK and then let the Queen kick him to the curb when Sookie doesn’t come with him... after the way he treated Sookie at Fangtasia, part of me think he deserves it a little ( ... )

I thought it was so clever - it's the perfect situation - Eric either chooses rightly, or it all falls apart. And Sookie's own actions coming back to serve them well would be most excellent ( ... )

Tell me about it! Or if you *like* women. Or good storytelling. Or subtext. Or thinking.

Hate to grouse, but, you know...

It's unfortunately true - all of it. It's maddening.

She didn't ever actually accuse Eric of doing that - just the bond. It's not as if we don't have a whole heap of Sookie books without a bond. Sookie and Eric didn't have it in DTTW, and they got along just fine.

Lol - but that's the problem - this sort of thing exists all over the vampire world. It's not as if it'd be any different in Oklahoma. As Sookie says, Vampires=drama. :D

Life is passing him by - he's been dithering and trying to force it his way instead of just *asking* what she wants.

That's what I'm here for. :D

It's nice, I must say. Some unreserved squeeing and such. :D

I think it's part of it, and also part of the duality of the abuser Appius was. I mean, he also did kind things for Eric, and he may not have registered that it was a fairy blade that would have killed him. I also think that that was more of his manipulation - he didn't want to live on with what had happened, so he took his opportunity to twist it to something he could use to serve himself. His saving Sookie then and there meant that he could get one last Hurrah in as Eric's saviour and possibly cause trouble in his relationship with Sookie. I would say that he liked the idea that Eric would have Sookie as his pet human, while Eric had a marriage worthy of him.

Lol, I know. Maybe I should lure them in with talk of how if they tell me how rockin' Eric is, and how Sookie should grovel, then I'll give them candy. Your average Sookie hater'd be silly enough to be lured into a serial killer van with candy, so I can get them to do that. :D

Ooooh Appius was a cunning manipulative bastard, wasn't he? Who'd have thought he had so many different motivations - and mostly about controlling Eric. Huh, Eric's saviour, yeah right. I really didn't like him, and I'm so glad Eric's a better man than him, even if it's only a little bit better. No wonder Eric loves his freedom so much ( ... )

He was. Alexei and Appius were a good insight into what made Eric the way he was. He was such a manipulative prick, and such a quintessential abuser. His type exists in real life though, and it's just as loathsome there too. Except it's sadly real.

Lol - we'll all be waiting for them not with foam bats - with hard, cold stares and sharp tongues. :D :D Give them a taste of being in a room with people who hate. :D

Dude - Bill was an absolute prince in DR. He was so good. I loved the way that he's trying to control himself - Bill came off like a champ with his self control. I loved it. Even though there was a little fear there for Sookie with the Benelli, I thought Bill rocked it. I'm really happy he's happy too - I don't want him to be sad. He had no control over Sophie Anne, and as said above - Bill, terrible boyfriend, great friend. :D

Check, check, Bill haters in the van. They're really Sookie haters in disguise - because they can't see anything redeemable in him, write fic that makes the less swift doubt Sookie's sanity.
