The Queen's Consort and his Wife

May 06, 2011 08:46

Such is this time of year that I am most likely to leave the fandom. This is the third year in a row, and can't it be over now? The Sookie hate, and the complaints about the books drive me up the wall. I almost left this time last year - so I'm not really talking anywhere but here, where I can blast the hell out of negative Nellies in the ( Read more... )

Great post, I'm so glad you figure things out so I don't have to.

And can I second what others have said about this being a great place for actual SVM and Sookie fans to gather, away from all the crazies - thank you for creating it :D

Your predictions make a lot of sense, and explain something that's been bugging me for ages. Is this why Appius got Sookie to move, saving her from being killed? I couldn't understand why he would do that, but if he knew Freyda wanted Sookie then he would want to keep her alive because if she died, (a) it would fuck up the advantageous arrangement he'd made for his child, and (b) if Eric turned up in Oklahoma without Freyda's new telepath it would make Eric's life pretty difficult (if not pretty over). I know Appius gloated about Sookie not getting to keep Eric, but he could have meant she'd be his degraded slave as she should be, rather than respected wife.

You know, when you threaten to blast people in the comments I'm always a bit disappointed that you don't get a few Sookie/SVM haters turning up here. I may have to leave a hateful anonymous post some time so that we can all enjoy some Sookie-basher bashing, and I can feel thoroughly chastened for my wicked Sookie hating ways.

That's what I'm here for. :D

It's nice, I must say. Some unreserved squeeing and such. :D

I think it's part of it, and also part of the duality of the abuser Appius was. I mean, he also did kind things for Eric, and he may not have registered that it was a fairy blade that would have killed him. I also think that that was more of his manipulation - he didn't want to live on with what had happened, so he took his opportunity to twist it to something he could use to serve himself. His saving Sookie then and there meant that he could get one last Hurrah in as Eric's saviour and possibly cause trouble in his relationship with Sookie. I would say that he liked the idea that Eric would have Sookie as his pet human, while Eric had a marriage worthy of him.

Lol, I know. Maybe I should lure them in with talk of how if they tell me how rockin' Eric is, and how Sookie should grovel, then I'll give them candy. Your average Sookie hater'd be silly enough to be lured into a serial killer van with candy, so I can get them to do that. :D

Ooooh Appius was a cunning manipulative bastard, wasn't he? Who'd have thought he had so many different motivations - and mostly about controlling Eric. Huh, Eric's saviour, yeah right. I really didn't like him, and I'm so glad Eric's a better man than him, even if it's only a little bit better. No wonder Eric loves his freedom so much.

Great mental picture - you luring Sookie haters into a van while we all wait inside with foam bats :D

I forgot to mention this on the other board - I really liked Bill in this book too, and I'm glad he seems more content. I've never been a Bill hater, though he's done plenty of things wrong. I loved when Sookie ended up getting naked with him, and he was so sweet and funny about it. It's a pity so many people won't be able to enjoy the humour, since they'll be too busy getting all angry on Eric's behalf. I wonder how many fanfics will rewrite that scene so that Bill's all evil and sleazy, and takes advantage of the situation (or even creates it), and Eric punishes him. Can we lure Bill haters into the van too?

He was. Alexei and Appius were a good insight into what made Eric the way he was. He was such a manipulative prick, and such a quintessential abuser. His type exists in real life though, and it's just as loathsome there too. Except it's sadly real.

Lol - we'll all be waiting for them not with foam bats - with hard, cold stares and sharp tongues. :D :D Give them a taste of being in a room with people who hate. :D

Dude - Bill was an absolute prince in DR. He was so good. I loved the way that he's trying to control himself - Bill came off like a champ with his self control. I loved it. Even though there was a little fear there for Sookie with the Benelli, I thought Bill rocked it. I'm really happy he's happy too - I don't want him to be sad. He had no control over Sophie Anne, and as said above - Bill, terrible boyfriend, great friend. :D

Check, check, Bill haters in the van. They're really Sookie haters in disguise - because they can't see anything redeemable in him, write fic that makes the less swift doubt Sookie's sanity.

That's true. I've been thinking of all the haters as separate groups, but really Eric worshipers = Sookie/Bill/Quinn/Sam haters, and all belong in the van.

Maybe we'll let you nasty Alcide haters off, though :D

They all need the van.

Lol. In all fairness, I hate Alcide for what he's done, not just cause he's a threat to Eric getting his end in. Since Sookie doesn't like him much, I figure I'm not too bad. Plus, I'm too stubborn to get into random vans cause I'm told. :D

I can't fault you for hating Alcide, since I don't like him either. And it is quite different to dislike a character based on what actually happens in SVM, rather than because of stupid shit dreamed up in fanfiction.

Lol - too true. It'd be like me hating Eric for the amount of fanfic beating of women he's done under the guise of "Dark Eric".

You know, I was surprised at how much I liked Bill in this book. It caught me off guard. I have always had an irrational hatred of Bill, ever since the rape (I have this rape phobia in RL and I guess that's where my irrational hatred began). But I was so glad to finally like him again and agree with him. CH did good with his character and I hope she keeps it up. It was tiring to not like Bill and I'm happy I'm over it finally.

Please, don't lure me to the van! ;)

He actually made me laugh in DITF too, even if he was a bit sad in that book.

:D
