Still no word from the mechanic for whom I show blind trust. It's not deserved, it's a lack of choice. He was optimistic about what could be my "main problem" with the muffler, saying that they actually specialize in this kind of thing and he would probably do some physical repair instead of swapping parts, something that would be less costly.
