I'm having a fun experiment tonight. I'm cooking Japanese food, for the first time ever! I've chosen two recipes from the Ethnomusicologist's Cookbook, from the Tokyo chapter. Well, possibly not The Secret, The Ultimate, but a pretty good secret of life nevertheless. The secret is this: It is almost impossible to cook something un-tasty with paprika. Earlier, I mentioned making sticky rice cake for Chinese New Year. Well, the cake was made, the party was had, and the cake was pronounced "excellent" and "done right" by the friend for whom I was making it. Thus validated, the recipe I used is this one. Already, six or seven inches of snow, with the storm due to last at least another fifteen hours. Sometimes, the wind is so strong that the snow falls up.
