Derek Kunsken, our head of programming with Can-Con 2012, presented panel and event suggestions at last night's Organizing Committee meeting. All 68 will be posted to the website for comment Real Soon Now.

I was there for that meeting, the list was extensive, and we look forward to hearing back from you about it!

It's just two months till the conference (Sept. 9-11) and we are getting ready to specify what events, including discussion panels, workshops and the like, will be at the con.

Does anyone here remember when Creation brought their act to Ottawa. If my memory's working properly at the moment, they did four shows here. Guests for those occasions included James Doohan, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, and there was possibly a fourth instance, but I can't remember who it was...?

Those of you who have been curious about Can-Con (whether about the convention last year or the one planned for September this year) soon will have their curiosity rewarded.

On January 30th, the Ottawa SF Society meeting will be hosting a "meet and greet" with several of the organizing team behind this year's upcoming edition of Can-Con.

Same place and time as usual, 2 PM at the Dalhousie Community Centre on Somerset and Empress, ground floor. Come on over and bring as many friends as you can!

After seeing Romeo Dallaire at the Mayfair Theatre last night, it occurs to me that this is a political figure whom I want to see at a Canadian science fiction convention. He has become a visionary by necessity for the sake of whatever peace of mind he now has, and he's never written a word of SF in his life that I know of...but he's still someone ( Read more... )
