Politicians at SF Conventions
After seeing Romeo Dallaire at the Mayfair Theatre last night, it occurs to me that this is a political figure whom I want to see at a Canadian science fiction convention. He has become a visionary by necessity for the sake of whatever peace of mind he now has, and he's never written a word of SF in his life that I know of...but he's still someone I'd want to see in such venues.
Am I wrong to think this? And if not, who else among our current crop of politicos ought to be invited to such gatherings?
