Re: Saturday September 2nd, Late-ish Evening cece_pallas August 31 2007, 04:15:27 UTC
CeCe decided to take this time to roam the halls for bit before bed. It was great to be back here. She smiled to herself as she ran her fingers across the cool stones of the wall as she walked. "Hello!" she said softly, to the passing potraits. Well she said hi to the nice ones. Some were just plain mean.

"Go to bed, child!" sneered one painting as she walked by. How rude, she thought to herself. She paused and turned slightly to face it. "How about you mind your own business you old codger," CeCe replied coldly. Why she was getting into an argument with a painting was beyond her. Ah, it was good to be back.

After a few moments of bickering, CeCe decided she'd had enough. "WELL YOUR MUM SMELLS!" Was her farewell shout, as she rounded the corner into a different corridor. "How rude!" she muttered to herself, rolling her eyes. She was completely unaware of the person walking not too far from her.

CeCe's jaw dropped for a nanosecond, then she recovered. She had tried to pretend that they didn't go to the same school, but sadly she knew all too well she was bound to run into him eventually.

"It was the portrait. It was harassing me. Blame it! Not me," she said lamely, pointing behind her.

At the mention of her blonde hair, CeCe smiled, completely unintentionally. "Oh, I found out over the summer that blondes do have much more fun than brunettes do." She's not sure what made her say it, but why not? Let him stew with that for awhile.

After lunch, Gillichu had returned to his dorm to fetch Philomena and his guitar. The kitten was not terribly pleased to be awakened from her nap, though she was appeased somewhat by Gillichu's peace offering of several pieces of chicken, eating them without seeming to mind the mustard that he'd failed to completely clean off. The guitar was another matter, and Gillichu still wasn't entirely sure whether he was wasting his time with the instrument or not. Geoffrey had promised to help him with it over the summer, but then the man hadn't been around much of at all. Gillichu had been hoping to finally have the promised lessons now that the term had started, since Geoffrey would have to be around more, and besides, it wasn't as if his uncle had classes any to teach any day other than Friday. Unfortunately, Geoffrey was nowhere to be found at the moment, which was annoying ( ... )

Gillichu immediately jumped back at the girl's approach. If he wasn't mistaken, this girl was... the one who'd been snogging Katzenkaiser last year! Glaring, he raised his guitar, using it as a shield against the girl. "Don't think I don't know who you are!" he warned. "If you come any closer or try to snog me or something, you'll be sorry!!"

Philomena, oblivious to the paranoia of her boy, wandered over and rubbed against the girl's leg, purring. Traitor.

Anya jumped back as well, startled by the way he greeted her. Ouch, that kind of hurt. Anya wasn't so used to people rejecting her like that -- at least not for silly things like snogging! Which, by the way, had not been happening! At least when he stumbled upon them...

She sighed with a frown, kneeling down as the kitten came over; at least Philomena seemed to approve of her, that made her feel a little better with herself. Anya stroked the soft fur, chewing on her lip as she decided what to say to the boy next.

"Frankly, I wouldn't dream of snogging you, so you have no worries there. I was just trying to be friendly..."

Dedicated employee that he was, Geoffrey strolled through the halls, headed for the grounds and, more specifically, the broom shed. Now that he had a (absolutely gorgeous, state of the art, spankin' new) broom, it was his duty to see that the school brooms were in good enough shape that the first and second years he'd be teaching come Friday would be able to keep up with him. Which meant many long hours of testing, cleaning, and fixing.

Because if he didn't find something to do with himself around here soon, he was going to completely lose it. Why the hell had Dumbledore only sent off Archer to track down those missing first years? Argh.

Danny was skipping lunch, not because he didn't want to eat, but because he wasn't sure how to go about being "social" in the Great Hall. He would much rather wander about or read something than try to figure out right now -- he was doing pretty good anyway, right? The redhead frowned to himself as he rounded a corner --

And ran straight into Geoffrey Chandler. Literally. Danny's books went everywhere, pages fluttering. "Shieze!" he stopped to pick up parchments without even looking to see who he'd run into. "I'm sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going," he said.

"Happens a lot with your nose in a book." Remy had been silently trailing his boyfriend for three corridors now whilst on his way to the Gryffindor common room, intending to jump out and scare him on the next corner - but that had been thoroughly ruined now, and the sight of Geoffrey Chandler nearby had drawn the charming young man out of prank mode and back into socially pleasant.

"Want a hand? Oh-" He grinned, 'accidentally' surprised by the teachers presence besides them. Of course. "All right, Geoff?"

Gentleman that he was, Geoffrey had immediately stooped and began picking up scattered books and sheets of parchment. "My fault entirely," he replied smoothly. "I should have been paying more attention to my surroundings, Mister-" He broke off from fishing for the boy's name (he was trying to learn who all the students were, even the ones he wouldn't be teaching, but there were so many!) as he heard his name and recognized the other boy who'd been trailing after this one.

Well, shit. He knew it would have to happen sometime. "Doing fine. Good summer, Mr. Cowan?" he asked in turn, trying very hard to exude an air of Authority.

Wednesday, September 6th, after dinner. candleschildren September 3 2007, 04:42:28 UTC
Having enjoyed a lovely dinner (no one was quite as talented as the house elves of Hogwarts, in Geoffrey's humble opinion), Geoffrey strolled happily down the hall. There were a few students here and there, but none that he recognized (thank god for small mercies - he didn't want a repeat of the horribly awkward encounter that had occurred the day before). Ah, the freedom of first week of classes. So convenient that he didn't really have much of anything to do before Friday, these first two weeks, seeing as how Quidditch practice didn't start until after tryouts. Now, what to do with himself on this fine evening...?

Bernadette was just finishing her security shift, doing rounds around the castle. Quiet so far. For the most part, the children were docile. They hadn't been back in school long enough to cause much trouble -- not enough time to plan, not enough time to be restless.

But there was a pall of fear over the school too. Two of the first years were still missing -- still unsorted -- and so no one knew if they should be grieving or worried, if these kids were one of their own. Poor Charlotte and Bridget, she thought.

"Hello," she said to Geoffrey Chandler as they passed each other in the hall way. She smiled, as prettily as she could muster, and checked out his ass as she walked behind him. She'd missed dinner and was hungry ...for a lot of things.

Really, Geoffrey loved it when the universe saw fit to answer his somewhat-rhetorical questions. Particularly when the universe's answers were phrased in such a way that young, rather attractive women (or men, he wasn't choosy, really) made up the bulk of the reply. Granted, Bernadette did have the fact that she was an Auror working against her... but she was also an Auror stationed here at Hogwarts, most probably out of the loop, and one of a handful of people at the school who were under fifty and not involved in awkward not-relationships with some relative of his (not that he had anyone particular in mind, of course).

"Good evening, Auror Wilson," he said pleasantly, turning on the charm. "Have a pleasant day?"

"As pleasant as possible," said Bernadette, stopping in her tracks and smiling. She really hoped that he hadn't noticed her clandestine glance. "The kids are behaving themselves, and are keeping their contraband hidden -- though, technically that isn't my job." She twirled a lock of her hair around her finger, and then stopped when she realized what she was doing. "The evil-doers are keeping themselves well hidden in these walls, I have to keep myself entertained somehow." She tried for a joke, she wasn't sure how well it faired.

Bernadette was inept when it came to flirting, relationships, anything with emotions. She could handle good old mattress dancing -- that she could handle. But any more than that and she was lost. And she couldn't exactly get from flirting to dancing with any ease either.

Tuesday, September 5th, Afternoon 1; Geoffrey's office. candleschildren September 5 2007, 02:02:32 UTC
[Continued from over here. The flying instructor probably doesn't have an office, but I say he does, so he does! :D ]

As soon as the door shut behind Danny, Geoffrey fell down in his chair and grinned. "First off, I don't think you have troubles with anger management or violence - if anything, you seem the sort who's more likely to shut it all up inside rather than letting it out. This said, congratulations on growing a backbone - Remy was asking to be beaned. Shame you didn't throw a bit more to the left, though... might've knocked a bit of sense into him if you'd hit his head." He gestured to the only other chair in the room - a squashy, if slightly-dilapidated armchair - with his hand, indicating that Danny should take a seat. There was no desk in the room, just a table shoved up against the wall that was tall enough it could be used for writing if necessary. There was not, strictly speaking, a lot of paperwork involved with Geoffrey's job ( ... )

The office was worn and cozy, and Danny curled up in the armchair with no difficulty. Geoffrey's words, though, were throwing him for a SERIOUS loop.

"Well, I," he sputtered, eyes wide. "Of course I don't have an anger management problem!!" He wished for a comforting cup of tea. That said, he didn't really know what he was expected to talk about, either. After a moment of silence, he cleared his throat.

"Um... what am I supposed to talk about?"

"Whatever's on your mind, really. Remy, this new doctor of yours, your classes this year, the last book you read... Whatever you like," Geoffrey said easily. He was about to say more when his stomach made a threatening noise and he winced. Right, that was what he forgot to do earlier... Lunch. "I, in the meantime, am going to see about finding a house elf and acquiring something to eat. Have you had lunch?" From what he recalled of his own teenage years, Geoffrey remembered being hungry a large part of the time.

"Um," Danny said. "No. I didn't. I was going to, but they told me I needed to be more social, and make more of an effort, so I've been trying that, but --" here he shrugged. "It's hard. And the thought of the Great Hall made me nervous, so I figured I could skip it. Right?"
