the mandalus sanctuary INTRODUCTION THE STAFF ALLIES THE RESIDENTS VISUAL GUIDE
The Sanctuary was an establishment founded in the 1800s by Dr. Gregory Magnus as a place for beings - called Abnormals - to find a home where they could be safe, secure, and above all else not be judged for who and what they were. In the 1880s, his daughter Dr. Helen Magnus took over the establishment and over the next one hundred years created a global network to house Abnormals all over the world. The motto they use is 'Sanctuary For All', meaning that they will not close their doors to anyone.
The Sanctuary in mandalus functions the same way, as it is the entire canon building. It is located in Old Town.
The definition of 'Abnormals' is bent a little to compensate for the large variety of people found in the city. There is a Head of House, and a second in command, should the Head of House become unable to keep the Sanctuary functioning. It serves as a home for the Sanctuary cast as well as people Helen invites to live within the walls, as she thinks they need what her establishment provides.
Within Mandalus, the Sanctuary also has allies. They are chosen by Helen herself. Staff is expected - if they know about it - to abide by not only the rules of the Sanctuary, but their allies as well.

Relationship: The Sanctuary provides medical attention and a safe house for the Brotherhood. Both Helen and the Mentor, Ezio Auditore, believe in freedom. Even if the Assassins do things the Sanctuary would never do. Information is generally shared between the two, but the Sanctuary staff keeps their Order a secret from the residents.
