Busy weekend! My mom sadly had to cancel, but I still got a lot done. Spent one day pickling things, so I can scratch that off of my list of things to learn to do this summer! The Pig Candy my brother and I were making burnt! Woe! Because shortly before it burnt, the applejuice + spicerub + pork rib drippings + maple syrup + hot sauce candy were were making was freakin' amazing. That's as in 'Red wurst', not 'rotten wurst'. It's, well, red. And pretty good, but also rather non-descript, though that might have been because I was tipsy when I drank it, and it was smothered in ketschup. Still, it was tasty. I just can't tell you what it tasted like. :P

The cake is good, but still not the dense German haselnut cake I was hoping for. It turned out not terribly sweet, like other German cakes (something I love), but actually quite light and fluffy.
