Still caught in the polar vortex
It's still cold and snowy. First real Ohio winter in a while. We'll be getting a slight break Sunday and Monday, when we could see low 30s. Hopefully I'll be able to clean off my car enough in case I actually need to go anywhere. I tried clearing off my car this morning. After about a half hour, I got about half the snow off my car, so no Friday ( Read more... ) -
Still snowing here...
But it's tapered off quite a bit. It was snowing hard this morning. Supposed to be another round of snow Sunday into Monday, but mostly in the Columbus area.

Most snow in years
We are under a lake effect snowstorm warning until 7 p.m. tomorrow. Started early this morning. Not a lot of snow where I live - but it was doing this misty, sleety thing and the sidewalks looked slick so I didn't do the usual breakfast :( That was a bummer, but I guess Akron got a lot of snow. Hearing the roads were a mess this evening.

Pleasant first day of the New Year
I spent a lovely New Year's Eve and Day with my parents and family. We munched on snacks, watched a couple of Christmas specials and watched the ball drop at midnight. I spent the night over there - no sense in going home and then coming back in a few hours for the Rose Bowl Parade. Floats were gorgeous as always, although didn't see the surfing ( Read more... ) -

Final post of 2024
It's been a year, full of ups and downs. A lot of ups- highlights including having the total solar eclipse on my birthday, and getting a contract.
This year- I'll be happy if I have my family, friends and am still gainfully employed. I'm just bracing myself. 2025 is going to be trying, to say the least. I'm only making one resolution, which I'm not ( Read more... ) -
Musings on color
I've noticed a trend that's been growing in the past decade. New developments - both in housing and in commercial - tend to pick a really bland, standard color palette. Best term I've heard for it is "greige." It was beige for a while but it's cooled to shades of gray. Cue the 50 Shades of gray jokes. Even fast food restaurants, which in the past ( Read more... ) -

It was a quiet, cloudy workday, still basking in the lovely Christmas spirit. Hard to believe, essentially five more days before 2025.

A lovely Christmas Day
Had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. First Christmas in a few years where I didn't work. It was nice to take a break.

The shortest day and longest night
Today is the official first day of winter, and Mother Nature has decided to bestow some snow and cold today in honor of it. Glad I don't have to step outside until Monday late morning, when it's supposed to warm up. Not sure if we will have a White Christmas or not.
