Not dead yet, and a New Year's Resolution a few days early

Dec 28, 2009 14:48

Believe it or not, I haven't fallen off the edge of the earth - just been insanely busy and taking a step back from internet life as a time-saver, despite missing it. It started just being too busy to check every day, and then it was free time, and before I knew it, it had been months! I think the lack of a "live" fandom probably had something to do with it, although I have kept in touch with most of my friends off LJ and Dreamwidth the best I could.

Some of you may have noticed that the mid-Atlantic got a whopper of a snowstorm the week before Christmas. I was snowbound for eight days, though I was prepared. Since the driveway is at the bottom of a little hill, it had to wait for the warm weather and rain to clear it out. It was actually kind of nice. I needed some downtime, and I knitted while watching old movies and documentaries.

I have been writing/editing loads of interesting and exciting things (well, at least, I think so), and I haven't let "Relict" drop… fact is, I still intend to finish "Vampire's Kiss" at some point in my copious free time. But I'm working on the next chapter of "Relict", and my goal is sometime shortly after New Year's Day. I kind of have to start work again this week, but my New Year's Resolution is to try to find more balance between work and play. Of course, I always resolve that, and I'm lucky if it lasts until March… Still. It's a worthy goal! Never mind those deadlines I see stretching before me, it's one hurdle at a time, right?
