I finished watching Unrelated this evening. It's the movie Tom Hiddleston made straight out of RADA, and his first with Joanna Hogg, who also directed him in Archipelago (which I'm also working through). He plays a snotty jerk named Oakley who's kind of the ringleader of the kids who are vacationing with their parents in this villa near Siena. The ( Read more... )

This is my last Wallander picspam, unless I find myself desperately wanting to go back and watch the pilot. It is also a short picspam, because Magnus is pretty much back to support lackey who, while pissy, generally has the right thing going at the right time. Then again, the shortness also demonstrates that there are three main modes for Mr. ( Read more... )

Yesterday my parents wanted to watch a movie. I was in the mood for Shakespeare, but since the library was closed and the local Blockbuster is a cultural wasteland, we were stuck with the DVDs my parents had picked out before I came. It turns out that Letters from Juliet is basically the most forcefully charmless movie I've ever seen, which is very ( Read more... )

So, Tom Hiddleston doesn't get terribly much to do in Wallander, which largely follows Kenneth Branagh being incredibly glum and not taking very good care of himself while people all around him get horribly murdered, BUT. Magnus Martinsson is pretty much the light of my life when he's onscreen. He has two modes: pissy and WHOA, COMPETENT, WHEN DID ( Read more... )

Alas, dinner plans with cousins didn't work out, which means that I had to do something for ten minutes to avoid the fact that my apartment is a hole and needs to be cleaned, like in that pre-moving cleaning and cleaning out kind of way. So, caps and a little commentary from the fourth episode of The Black Donnellys! This has nothing to do with the ( Read more... )

Feh. I am in Lazy Ass Central mode. I have all this stuff I could be doing, but I just want to slouch.

I did manage to sit through this week's episode of Flash Forward, solely for the purpose of catching sight of Gonorrhea himself. "Press Secretary" doesn't really let him use his full range very well, though he did sound very menacing announcing ( Read more... )

In some ways, Borstal Boy is like the perfect combination of The Boys & Girl from County Clare and The Escapist. While it has no Barantini, it is chock-full of BoB actors, by which I mean not only do we get Rrrrobin Lainggg, but also Mark Huberman, who plays Les Hashey -- as well as some other surprises. Anyway, Borstal Boy has mad Irishmen, prison ( Read more... )
