Just got back from seeing We Are Scientists and very good they were too. They perform catchy geek pop with wit and exuberance, the lead singer appears to be going grey and their website has an advice column.

They are mates with the Arctic Monkeys and the Monkeys themselves were watching from the wings.

What more could anybody want?

Firstly, Prince.

OMG.

His name is Prince and he is funky. Oh yes indeedy. Our seats were better than I had hoped for - not too far from the stage. Prince performed in the middle of the O2 arena on a "Symbol" shaped stage and we were at the back of it, but he and his band made sure they utilised all the space, so we didn't miss out. Had a baby sitter staying over, so decided to go out and behold, Nine Black Alps were playing.

Very small gig which meant I could go right to the front and not get squished. Close enough to see the sweat spray off the bass player's beard. Even managed to take a picture - look!
