Honestly, foreign languages were totally boring for me when I was a student. We have to study English as a required subject at school in Japan though, I wasn't interested in it at all.

I could say, I was brought up in surroundings that was filled the very Western cultures and English things.

Oh, you think I get something wrong? Yes, I know it sounds so weird. But there is some expressions like that in Japanese because Japanese prefer a vague, evasive and noncommittal expression to a straight expression. I think it's a great annoyance for non-native people...

Kimono, which are the traditional clothes of Japan, have only one pattern. In other words, kimono don't have any other patterns like a sleeveless one, a half sleeved one,  a knee‐length one. But you know Japan has four seasons. Summer is hot and damp, winter is cold. Do you think how Japanese stay on kimono with such different seasons?

I've heard onomatopoeic words(擬音語) and mimetic words(擬態語) are hard to understand for non-native speakers of Japanese. But mangas are always filled by these kinds of words.

つるつるの肌(tsurutsuru no hada) ; a smooth skin
がさがさの肌(gasagasa no hada) ; a chapped skin
よぼよぼの肌(yoboyobo no hada) ; an aging skin
These green words are onomatopoeic words.

My hometown, Sapporo is a good place to eat! There are various restaurants here.
The famous foods in Sapporo are 札幌ラーメン(Sapporo ramen) and スープカレー(a soup curry) and ジンギスカン(Jingisukan, a grilled mutton dish)

I told you Japanese has many words of the first person, and each of them sound different on Boyish? Girlish?.
俺(ore) and 僕(boku) sound manly (or boyish), and 私(watashi) sounds womanly(or girlish).

Japanese and English(and other European languages) have many differences.
I think in English when I use English. It's so tough to think in Japanese when I speak English. The differences are so huge and to translate is also difficult...

I think one of big differences between Japanese and English is "there is" and "have(or get)".
