Now, English is fun
This title also means "Then, English wasn't fun".
Honestly, foreign languages were totally boring for me when I was a student. We have to study English as a required subject at school in Japan though, I wasn't interested in it at all.
I could say, I was brought up in surroundings that was filled the very Western cultures and English things.
My aunt was an interpreter of English at Sapporo olympic, and my mother is a big fan of English songs like The Beatles or Simon & Garfunkel or something, so I often heard them since I was a little girl, and got used them. In addition to that, my father is keen on western classical music. So I also heard Mozart every now and then at home.
And yet, I didn't care for English and other foreign languages. English was still just a dull stuff to get good grades for me.
When I went to college, I took a geography course as my major. I could take classes of some foreign languages there, but I wasn't interested in them as always.
But you know, Now, English is fun for me. Besides, other foreign languages are fun for me as well!! What has changed inside of me? An answer is quite simple. I've started using them for communication. At school, English was just a trashy subject for me because I studied it only to get good results. However, do you think any languages exist for school exams or getting good grades? No! Not at all!!!
I didn't know substance of languages. Every word was born to communicate with someone!!!
Now I've realized it, and learning languages has been changed great fun for me.
