I've planted a line of fir trees along the edge of the road.  I've got a hose out there to water with.  I've also put moss around the base of each of the trees.  It's taken five bins of moss and I've still got a few more to do ( Read more... )

These are the recommended tree varieties for sandy well drained soil.

white pine,
red pine,
*European larch,
*Norway spruce,
red oak,
white cedar,
*hybrid poplar,
*black locust

I am not sure what all of them are. I do know some, though.

I worked with my handsaw, cutting off all the lower branches so we can walk under the cedar tree. Perhaps that was making too much home for the mosquitoes.

Whatever the situation, it is nice now that I can get under there easily.

I stacked all the branches in the center of Corner Cedar Cove.

I planted the 20 3" high seedlings from that shade tree in the church yard. I put them along the other side of the walkway outside the woodshed door. The rest I put along the fencerow except for two that went in the Perennial slope ( Read more... )
