A bit toward house repairs and other small accomplishments

I finally did something productive, so I can now journal about it. I finished the pair of green knee socks I have been working on. They are wonderful, except for the toes again. I gave my other pair of green knee socks, the ones that wouldn't stay up, to Maryjane last weekend.

So now I have replaced them. Thus, I once again have three pairs of knee socks I made. I wonder if I can needle felt the bottoms to make them more durable. Hmmm. I've a felting needle and a lot of fleece beside me here in my Lofty Treefort.

I also rinsed out two sponges from grouting the upstairs bathroom last night. I have to change my many layers of clothes and socks before I can work on that, though, so that slowed me riiiight down.

I also fed the deer. Since I baracaded the door in Abe's room so he can't leave it wide open and replace our nice warm air with bitter stuff, I had to go around. Bigger job, including moving one foot in front of the other repeatedly!

However, since I'm not in pain, what the heck! I went around and was about to fill the three bowls, when I heard Abe cough. He only coughs when he smokes. humph. I looked at the house as I went to get a bowl and saw the window open! There he was standing inside the window, smoking! I yelled at him. All I ever do is yell at him. Smoking inside is absolutely intolerable! He notices that all I ever do is yell at him. It is true alas. You smoke in my house or leave doors open for people only he can see is not gona happen! No way!

I waited till it got warm outside. It's only -7 now! Lots warmer after -30 last night. Now that was cold! This polar vortex slippage is getting a bit out of hand! But then, we've had almost no cold weather, so we are way far ahead!

It was interesting to see that the windows we didn't replace, in the door and windows of the downstairs bedroom, were filled with ice on the inside yesterday. I hope to replace them next summer. Perhaps.

I also got Abe to help me move the counter top to the living room. I emptied the last cupboard and moved it to the living room wall, too. I even brought the contents back and put them in the cupboard. Two huge bags of rice and a ton of oil, castor oil and lye for soapmaking. I did look at the next cupboard. Lots and lots of bottles of fragrant and essential oils. I shouldn't have bought so much just before running out of steam to make and sell soap.

So now I'm back in my Lofty Treefort journaling. the wind is blowing hard, but I should probably go for a walk. I am skipping on mera today. I know. But it was so cold this morning. It's much better now, though.

I should go for a walk.

I handfed five chickadees. They were racing bak and forth to my hand, hardly taking turns. A few times there were two of them on my hand. Imagine! My Lofty Treefort window is perfect for opening a bit to feed them. Ah, perfecto.
