I did some woodshedding on the Bach B Minor Mass last night. I started by fetching my score and singing along with
the BBC Proms video from 2012. I was delighted by how much of the Kyrie I remembered as well as the relative easiness of several of the choral movements.
And then I got to the
Cum Sancto Spiritu.
And then I tried working on it for a bit.
And then I decided to work on
my duet a bit.
I was then forced to sight-read some Purcell to remind myself that I really am a good musician with strong sight reading skills. It's been a while since I've really felt challenged, if not overwhelmed, by the difficulty of a piece of music. Now all I have to do is pick up the pieces of my shattered confidence and work on it some more today. And the day after. And the day after that.
So then after dinner, Mr. 42 and I decided to unwind by watching an episode of Voyager. So of course it turned out to be The-Doctor-Makes-Himself-a-Hologram-Family episode, which, like the Neelix-and-Tuvak-transporter-accident episode, took a silly, cracky premise and then mounted it on steel-toed boots and kicked the audience repeatedly in the collective gut.
I ran into
solarwind while walking to work, and she has an interminable day today filled with things that are either nerve-wracking, emotionally exhausting, or both. Oh, and it's supposed to rain today.
Right. Got to finish at least one, if not two, schedules for upcoming candidate visits.
Here's wishing you all excellent Thursdays.
Love to All,

PS Friday tomorrow!
