Several random bits of news:
I got news that my uncle Jack died, quite possibly making this the worst month ever. He wasn't actually a relative but a very old family friend, having lived next door to my nan and grandad for years. It wasn't unexpected at all - his health has been terrible since his wife died a few years ago. I'm worried about my nan as it's come so soon after my grandad's death.
On the uni front, I finally finished my independent study this afternoon. I'm quite proud of how it turned out, and wishing that I'd had enough faith in myself to register for the dissertation module. I still have two English essays and revision for two history exams to go.
I went to York with a friend for a day trip. Enjoyed the museum, bought books and ate my first Eton Mess.
Books news!
The Captive Queen by Alison Weir is an excellent novelisation of Eleanor of Aquitaine's life after the annulment of her marriage to Louis VII of France. I really need to get back to Weir's biography of Eleanor. I attempted to read it before I got my glasses and couldn't cope with the tiny text. I went on a bit of a book splurge and bought
Northanger Abbey,
The Sisters Who Would be Queen,
Hyddenworld and
Emma Brown I'm also enjoying watching my favourite TV dramas while I work my way through essays. So far I've watched Lost in Austen, Northanger Abbey and North and South. Fingersmith is coming tomorrow!
