Writing 2008
General New Year reflection (or at least, the highlights edition) post to come. Until then, the writing round up.
General:
This is the post-Always year. Which, by the way, I've said it before on this journal but it bears repeating: post-epic recovery is crazy. Even more so than writing in general. I'm sort of reassured that I managed to write *anything* this year, let alone a few short fics, and several abortive attempts to start a novel. But I've talked about this before, so I'll spare you the angst and move on.
Nothing was actually posted here (except for the lj entries of Rambling), but I was talking about it, and it's part of writing '08, so: TC&M, aka. the original novel. Long story short: jumping into a whole new world and novel after a monster epic trilogy that ate years of your life? And expecting it to work out smoothly? Yeah, that's called naivite. Also, insanity. I'm slowly stitching things together, though. I think. Writing is 90% slamming your head into the wall, and repeating until blood loss makes you crazy enough to just write. It's possible that post-epic drama increased the percent number, but. In this case.
Fics
Personal Canon for Always characters. I joss myself constantly even within the actual fics (especially long things like trilogies; I couldn't predict ItM from Sanar's origins, after all), so I don't count anything as "canon" unless it's at least been posted within an actual story; but further inspection of some Always characters, as I see them at the moment. Lera Verili-Whilem, Isra, Jaina Solo, Krista Harif-Reglia, and Zekk.

Constant Satellite *** My first Doctor Who fic. Rose post-Doomsday; spoilers for all over s1-2, but mostly just hints of s4 spoilers that were floating around (which, besides the big/obvious 4x01 spoiler, I was completely wrong about). Also with: Mickey Smith, Pete Tyler, Adam Mitchell, and OC's; plus Rose/The Doctor, and Rose/OC.
The Doctor--her first Doctor, right before he burst in flames--told her to have a fantastic life. On the beach, her Doctor said, “Rose Tyler: defender of the Earth.” Her mom turns it into a plaque, Mickey tries to make it a joke, and others want it to be a publicity stunt, but Rose pays attention to the difference.
Fast As I Can (JC link) /\ Zekk, Jaina, and Zekk/Jaina. Started: August 2005. Finished: a couple months ago! I'm both ridiculously proud and embarrassed that I managed to finish this up after such a long hiatus of let's-just-not-talk-about-my-completion-issues.
I'm goin fast as I can, please don't make me rush / this feeling's coming on way too fast / I'll tell you all of the things that you'll never forget / But I'm not ready say, "I love you" yet.
