When we go out of town, we board the dogs. Normally we board at our vets but the last few times have not been very nice. Strike 1: kennel cough; Strike 2: horrible case of fleas; Strike 3: the dogs came home very dehyrated -- they drank two big bowls of water within the first half hour of being home. Once again I've proved to be a very odd mother. The guys were out at Samuell Farm setting up next week's Twilight Camp and one of them caught a three foot long rat snake. They had it tied up in a plastic bag but I thought that was a bit cruel. Plastic doesn't breathe after all. So I transferred it to a large Subway cup with lid. (Needless to say ( Read more... )

Whew!! I've had an exciting morning. My son's dog, Patrick, let himself in (he does that if the door isn't quite latched) and before I could get up from the desk to shut it, one of the barnswallows that nests on the patio flew into the house.
