Posting because the news today is an absolute nightmare and I need to pull away from it for a little while.
Soooo... I finished watching S1 of iZombie last night. I really enjoyed it! The crimefighting team of Liv/Ravi/Clive is pretty awesome, and it's fun to see David Anders and Steven Weber get good, juicy villain roles to sink their teeth into (literally, in Anders case).
- Did anyone else get massive Spike flashbacks from Lowell? I mean, I know it's like 95% the accent, and that character-wise Blaine is probably the Spike of this series, but I also thought the actor looked a lot like a young, brunette James Marsters. Anyway, I was sad to see him go.
-Major Lilywhite is, um, a very on-point name for a character. I was afraid he was going to be the Riley (yes, I do watch genre shows through a Buffy-colored lens), but I actually did end up getting invested in his story and caring about what happened to him. However, I can see how he could become someone I could get easily annoyed by, so we'll see how that goes in S2.
- Ugh, why isn't S2 already on Netflix? I had to read a few spoilers for the first episode to find out how a few things resolved from the finale, because I don't have any patience.
- The "Peyton finds out" scene was really good. I can't say I blame her for disappearing.
-I like the way the Max Rager plot was woven into the season.
- I admit to being overly squeamish, but I have to look away during virtually all of the scenes involving food. I could never have survived Hannibal.
- I wish Liv's relationship with her brother had been featured a little more throughout the season so that there would have been a bit more of an impact when she refused to give blood at the end.
In other pop culture type news, I think I might need Cliff's Notes for
this synopsis of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Spoilers, obviously.
