Posting because the news today is an absolute nightmare and I need to pull away from it for a little while.

Soooo... I finished watching S1 of iZombie last night. I really enjoyed it! The crimefighting team of Liv/Ravi/Clive is pretty awesome, and it's fun to see David Anders and Steven Weber get good, juicy villain roles to sink their teeth into ( Read more... )

Love iZombie! S2 is great as well. It does remind me very much of Buffy in the way it tackles serious subject matter with a lighter touch, and you see more of the story arc develop in S2.

I was very sad to see Lowell go. :-( But yeah, Blaine is the Spike of this series.

I have really not liked Major at times, but by the end of S2 I liked him again. :-)

Oh yay, I'm so glad to hear that it remains enjoyable in S2! It definitely has some Buffy DNA in it, which is not a bad thing, in my opinion. I'm looking forward to seeing how the arc develops.

Haha, I figured. The snark was familiar. As for Major, he's of a type (perfect all-American guy) who kind of sets my teeth on edge, so I won't be surprised if he annoys me later, but his story was sympathetic enough that I got pretty invested in it.

I was upset at Lowell's death too, he was really cute :( My one issue with Major is that the writers keep pushing the Major/Liv romance and I just don't see it, I thought that Lowell and Liv had much more chemistry. I was really disappointed that they killed Lowell off definitely, I think it was because the actor was set to be the lead in another show? But also I feel like Major/Liv are endgame in the writers minds, so probably Lowell wouldn't have survived long either way...

-Major Lilywhite is, um, a very on-point name for a character. I was afraid he was going to be the Riley (yes, I do watch genre shows through a Buffy-colored lens), but I actually did end up getting invested in his story and caring about what happened to him. However, I can see how he could become someone I could get easily annoyed by, so we'll see how that goes in S2. I think that's the general consensus on Major, most of the audience were very sceptical of him at first, but they did develop his character in interesting ways, and I enjoyed his friendship with ( ... )

Yessss. I like Liv and Major both separately, but together they are just a gigantic yawn. The whole backstory of their relationship, that they've been in love for years until she dumped him due to her zombie-ness, is just really boring and not helped by the fact that they have so little chemistry. It's hard for me to ship a couple when all the work of showing why they're right for each other has happened before the story even starts. I'm definitely more invested in the friendships, like Ravi/Liv and Ravi/Major and Clive/Liv, than I am for any romantic relationships on this show.

I'm really looking forward to watching S2! Hopefully it will be available soon.
