It always strikes me, when I use that phrase, “I finished a book,” that I usually mean something different than 99% of other people do when they say it. Possibly 99.7%. With the arrival of September and the start of (pre)school, I have gotten more work done in the past week than in the past three months combined. There’s a cafe in the same building as my son’s preschool, so I’ve been dropping him off, walking thirty meters to order a cup of berry tea, and sitting down to write for close to 3 hours. It’s a godsend.

I had an absolutely lovely, quiet day off yesterday, and am feeling roughly 23425098707 million times more relaxed than I was, say, 48 hours ago. I could use a full body massage, possibly one daily for a month or so, but that’s pretty typical for me. Okay. Copyedits done, at least in the first pass. Tomorrow I’ll have to go through them again and either type them up or at least make sure my changes are clear enough, so that the manuscript can go back in the mail (at horrific expense) on Monday. I got another Pilates book today. Like nearly every book I’ve seen, the first exercises are just Too Goddamned Hard if you’re a Pilates novice, and there are no suggestions on how to work up to them.
