One of my hives didn't make it through the winter. Both still had plenty of stores, and I left the dead-out all spring for the live one to rob out, but they didn't. I wanted to check out the bees, but it rained on and off all day, and to top it off, I got fired from my dance job. *le sigh*

I wanted to cut off the extra comb and put it in another frame today, but I think it is going to have to wait until I can borrow another pair of hands. Holding the frame, cutting off the extra and catching it requires at least one more hand than I have. Now I understand why people use frame rests. Got back from Indiana yesterday, but it was raining so I put off checking the hive until today. Cloudy, but not too windy, temperature about 68 degrees F. The bees looked good. Saw capped brood, larvae, and the queen. The two empty medium frames that I'd put between the feeder, and in the middle of the deep frames were drawn out real nice. The ( Read more... )
