today i spent all day at a native american basketweaving class for work, part of a native culture festival at the local casino. not only was the class paid for, but i also got paid to sit and listen to drums and chanting while weaving cedar strips into a pouch. i also had tasty tasty frybread, but i had to buy that myself. the little basket looks good, now i just have to braid the leather for the string and we can hang it on the wall in the interpretive center! did i mention that a while back i also spent an entire afternoon at work learning how to make a turks head knot bracelet like old sailors used to do? yeah, my job rules.
tomorrow is my last tidepool walk of the summer, sad! none of my friends ever came out to see me in the tidepools, i should kick them all! i can't even convince the boy to come out, because he's still off at the fire. poo.

our head interpretive ranger is interviewing for a similar position at another park (in the valley- our costal chill and fog wreaks havoc on her health, and she's hours from her whole family). if she gets it i will apply for her position. i know everyone there likes me and thinks i am pretty good at the job, but who knows if i have enough experience or whatever, should the job come open. oh well, she doesn't think she will get the other job anyway. selfishly i'd like to have her around for another year just so i can learn more, actually.

out of curiosity, how does one know if one has pinkeye? my eye is pink and hurts, but is not itchy or goopy. i have been wearing my glasses since it started hurting a couple days ago. i did squirt soapy water in that eye accidentally, but it didn't start hurting until a couple days after the squirting incident.
