"Oh, hi. You are the head barman, right?" See, Ben is not REALLY clueless.

"Someone pointed you out for me a while ago." True, just don't ask the mun to go find it where or when. "I'm Ben Winchester."

It hasn't escaped James' notice that it's the start of summer here, rather than the end like back home. (Stupid time things.) So he's pleased by the thought of a beach party (and amused that it'll probably be the middle of an English autumn for him by then).

He's got to run, but he eyes the sign on the noticeboard for a moment -- he can't decide between volunteering for grill or fire brigade duties -- then scrawls on it with a chewed up pencil before leaving.

Something with fire!!! -James Ad Beckett.

A subnote is added under it.

- Sure, after you show your firegod skills!

Mallory notes the sign and smiles. She's on her way out, having come in accidentally, but stops for a brief chat.

"Hey, Ben. Throwing a party, huh? I can lifeguard if you still need one; I'm CPR and first aid certified."

"Hey Mallory!" He smiles brightly, getting up to give her a peck on the cheek. "Thanks, I hope nobody gets sick or needs rescuing, but... better safe than sorry. How are you?"

"I'm all right. Been working extra shifts at the restaurant. Summer is crazy busy, and the college kids who worked during semester all quit to enjoy the summer."

She is thankfully NOT wearing her uniform at the moment.

"How about you?"

"Hmm... trying different stuff, finding myself, trying to believe I will not always screw up." Giving this 'party organization' thing a jab is a good start, right?

You learn a lot of useful information reading the signs around here.

Ava blinks at this one.

"There's a caribbean inlet around here? Why didn't I show up in a bikini and a hula skirt?"

"Yeah, there is. head down to the lake, take a right, you can catch the scent of saltwater soon. Looks like a stretch of caribbean sea and beach." The other part made him blink. "I am sure Bar can get you those."

Looks like we got ourselves a blink-off.

"... Yeah, I must have missed that in the hustle and bustle of being stuck in a bar full of rats," Ava says. She speaks and carries herself with a strained sort of cheer.

"Also, okay, I knew the bar did that abracadabra-have-a-mojito thing, but it also has one-stop shopping?"

"I would be more worried about the werewolves than about the waitrats... and yeah, Bar can get you anything that is not a weapon, but charges for it too."

And then, he realizes something. "Hi, I am Ben Winchester." He offers a hand that is strong but gentle, some rough and calloused from some kind of work. The young man seems to be in his late teens.

There are hands over his eyes and the person speaks with a cockney accent.

"Oh really looks like fun.. Guess who?"

"Ginny." Ben places his hands over hers. "How are you?"

Ah, well. He is still sad that she will 'hold out' for her future-known-husband. But really, why the pretty sexy smart witch would want anything with a nerd, right?

Of course, he is not going to say anything even close to that.

Ginny smiles and hugs him from behind. She is not planning on marring anyone but Harry. But she could use a friend. And maybe sharing meals. That's just friendly right?

"I'm Great I'm in my last week of school ever!"

"Ooh, Nice. I still have a whole year ahead... after this one." Well, a friend he can be, sure.
