You learn a lot of useful information reading the signs around here.

Ava blinks at this one.

"There's a caribbean inlet around here? Why didn't I show up in a bikini and a hula skirt?"

"Yeah, there is. head down to the lake, take a right, you can catch the scent of saltwater soon. Looks like a stretch of caribbean sea and beach." The other part made him blink. "I am sure Bar can get you those."

Looks like we got ourselves a blink-off.

"... Yeah, I must have missed that in the hustle and bustle of being stuck in a bar full of rats," Ava says. She speaks and carries herself with a strained sort of cheer.

"Also, okay, I knew the bar did that abracadabra-have-a-mojito thing, but it also has one-stop shopping?"

"I would be more worried about the werewolves than about the waitrats... and yeah, Bar can get you anything that is not a weapon, but charges for it too."

And then, he realizes something. "Hi, I am Ben Winchester." He offers a hand that is strong but gentle, some rough and calloused from some kind of work. The young man seems to be in his late teens.

Ava accepts his hand hesitantly and shakes.

"... Werewolves?"

He just nods. "Don't go out in full moon nights. I think there are two or three at least, stalking the woords."

Ava blinks.

And starts to laugh, high and a little hysterical.

"Werewolves. Well that's just great. Because you know, things weren't weird enough around here. Throw in some evil clowns and a bearded lady and we'll be set!"

"Hmm... there are gods, and wizards and witches, and secret agents, and criminals, and superheroes, and people from past and future." Ben shrugs. "Milliways connects with all the whole universe, and all times. There is always something stranger."

He is not trying to scare her, but it is better to give a spoken shock now than letting her get in-your-face shocked later.

And actually, underneath the slightly manic anxiety, Ava finds all of this very, very interesting.

What's not to believe, right? She randomly showed up in a place full of explosions and magical alcohol.

"Okay!" She nods emphatically, smiling. "Great-- what'd you say your name was, Ben?-- so basically I'm trapped in Halloweentown? Is that it?"

"If your door vanished... yeah. But it will come back, unless you died before arriving here." Oh yes, in Milliways everybody sees dead people.

Ava blinks.

That's the second time somebody's said that to her today.

"What do you mean, 'died'?"

Reply

benloserz June 12 2008, 00:28:24 UTC
"Died. Some people here are dead back in their worlds. Instead of going to heaven or hell, they ended here." Dead.

Simple, right?

"Limbo's a bar?"

"I guess so, but hey... it beats a lot of the alternatives, right?" Oh, of course he is joking...

"Unless you're an alcoholic," Ava says, although to be fair, if you're an alcoholic uninterested in recovery then this place could make a pretty sweet limbo.

Until your liver exploded.

"... So is there anything else I should know about this place? I'm thinking primarily in terms of crazy and life-threatening?"

"Hmm... people told you the rules, right? No violence, no outside business and no naked or sex stuff in public?" He ponders. "There is Security here to keep things under control... what else..."
