My cousin is having what used to be called a missionary farewell (it still is one, the LDS Church just doesn't call it such). After that, our family is headed toward St. George where I may or may not have internet access. Do not mourn me; I will return. Unless, of course, I die in an automobile accident in which case you may take it as a lesson not to tempt fate.
PS: In addition to my cousin, an LDS
actress spoke at church. African American Latter-day Saints in Utah are exceptionally rare. Still, I was kinda pissed when someone baselessly claimed she looked like Gladys Knight. She's the first person I've seen with dreadlocks in an LDS Church. She spoke of being spiritually frustrated, of seances, and automatic writings. She contemplated going back home to Virginia and "planting some pot"-before becoming Mormon, of course. I kept reminding myself that lust is a sin.
Jeez, I need to pack!
