There are a couple things I like about LDS political dominance in Utah.

( Politics, probably not of interest to non-Utahns. Or even Utahns, for that matter. )

Apparently a contestant on Survivor calls himself a gay Mormon, but he isn't baptized into the LDS Church (and hence can't be excommunicated from it). That's heartening to me. Mormonism is much bigger than 50 E. North Temple Street. If the office building ever strips me of my membership, I'll be (an agnostic) Mormon until I say otherwise, dammit ( Read more... )

My cousin is having what used to be called a missionary farewell (it still is one, the LDS Church just doesn't call it such). I had my heart set on jury duty, but the case was settled and we were dismissed. I've read that attorneys are usually weeded out, so I reckoned if I was ever to serve, it would have to be before law school. And now...I fear I'll never get jury duty.

I might go to Las Vegas this weekend, but only because my mother may have cancer. ( cut! )
