I just saw this description of a current movie called Letters to Juliet:
When a young American travels to the city of Verona, home of the star-crossed lover Juliet Capulet of Romeo and Juliet fame, she joins a group of volunteers who respond to letters to Juliet seeking advice about love.

Like asking Santa Claus for advice on losing weight.

Yesterday I took E to the discount kids' movie, which was showing Barbie and the Three Musketeers. I was expecting to hate it, of course, but it was actually fairly good.

Barbie is Carinne, who starts out homologous to D'Artagnan: a relatively poor Gascon who comes to Paris to be a Musketeer, with a letter of introduction to M. Treville. ( Read more... )

We just watched The Clone War, which I'd heard really bad things about-and it actually wasn't that bad. It's not fantastic, but it probably ranks more or less with Episodes I-III.

The animation brings it down, though. A big part of the impact of any Star Wars movie is the special effects; and the stylized chunky look of The Clone War drops out ( Read more... )
