The Clone War: not that bad, really

Nov 29, 2008 18:55

We just watched The Clone War, which I'd heard really bad things about-and it actually wasn't that bad. It's not fantastic, but it probably ranks more or less with Episodes I-III.

The animation brings it down, though. A big part of the impact of any Star Wars movie is the special effects; and the stylized chunky look of The Clone War drops out so much detail that it's just not impressive enough. Count Dooku is especially bad; that expressive face, which can look sombre, regretful, trustworthy, and sinister, is replaced by a cone with a beard.

I'm glad I didn't pay theatre prices for it, and I'm not sure I'll buy the DVD (we got it from Netflix); but I did enjoy it.
