I know I am rather politically liberal and many who read this livejournal are not. I can understand the other side, or at least I'd like to. I can understand certain issues regarding state's rights and the decentralization of the government; look at medieval Iceland and the Icelandic Commonwealth. Mr. Obama's nomination acceptance speech tonight was very powerful to me. I went into it trying to expect lofty and non-substantive rhetoric (as they are often accused of Mr. Obama by his detractors). Such criticism is to be expected, I mean, he is running for one of the most politically powerful offices in the world. But it's the 21st century and the media is different. Last night I read an article announcing that Saddam Hussein was sentenced to death by hanging after being convicted of crimes against humanity.
