I just stepped outside the house in the early evening dusk to take out some trash, and there before me in the middle of the sidewalk at the bottom of the steps is a motionless cicada nymph.  "Hmmmm....." I woke up this morning to hear the first cicada of the season. Normally when they start, they make me think of the end of summer, when their chorus gets very loud.

But this fellow is way too early to make me think that! It's only the 4th of July!
