CenturyTel has bought Qwest, a Denver-based telecom company. Layoffs are imminent - the combined company will be based at CenturyTel's headquarters in Monroe, La., rather than in Denver, where Qwest is based. I cannot see many people from Denver relocating to Monroe, Louisiana, a tiny town in deep south.

Denver is a ridiculously pleasant and easy place to live in.  I feel like I am getting too soft - there is very little to fight for.  Is it just me or living in any other city after New York will seem so effortless and carefree?  I cannot really find any major irritants, distractions and annoyances.  People are very friendly, at least those that I ( Read more... )

The storm dropped more than 3 feet of snow in areas of the foothills west of Denver and closed schools and businesses.
It was the biggest October snowmaker in the Denver area since 1997, said Byron Louis, a National Weather Service hydrologist in Boulder, Colo.
