So my sleep issues continue to haunt me... went to bed at 1 am last night and now I am up at 6am! BAH! WTF is wrong with me? My back is killing me... my mattress is in desperate need of replacement but we don't want to replace it until after we move. We know the truck will be packed as it is, so my bed and DJ's dressers are getting tossed when we leave here since they need to be replaced anyways. So I must wait until the Army makes up their freaking mind.
Speaking of the move, apparently the Army is "full up" on E-6 medics everywhere except the duty stations NO ONE wants! GRRRRR.... so Jim's one boss is working a 1-for-1 swap with a medic at Ft. Lewis, WA (but we don't know if it will go through since that guy is in a "lifecycle unit" which means he still has time on his "contract" with that unit). There is also a slot supposedly opening up at the hospital at Lewis but Jim has to call Branch everyday to try and "catch" that opening. He heard rumors that there might be an opening at Ft. Carson , CO but branch says there is not. We know it will only take one call to send him to Ft. Bragg, NC but that is in a civil affairs battalion which means he will spend the rest of his freaking career on the road TDY going to war torn countries and helping the "rebuild" effort. Which would SUCK for us since I plan on going to some sort of academy and starting my career ASAP, can't do that with Jim gone! UGH! Not to mention Fayetteville has one of the highest mortality rates for law enforcement! There is NO WAY I want to work in "Fayettenam." He tried calling Western Command for Senior ROTC but the guy he talked to was rude and told him "not interested in a medic" and hung up on him. WTF? Jim thinks that he could get a job teaching "baby medics" down at the medical training center at Ft. Sam Houston but that means living in Texas! ICK! All in all, it is boiling down to choosing the lesser of a few evils. THIS SUCKS, after over a decade of service in a special ops unit, you'd think that the Army would give him more appealing options than "Egypt, Korea, Africa, or Ft. Hood TX or Fort Sill, OK. grrrrr.....
Anyways, DJ has the day off of school for some reason so I am going to clean the house, hit up the commissary for some foodage, and then go swimming with Jim and DJ at the pool. Yeah Jim is still in his cast but we found this awesome orthopedic "condom" for his cast that makes a watertight seal and allows him to swim. (Yesterday he swam for 45 minutes while DJ and I were at TKD. It worked and Jim got a workout so we are going to make it a daily affair! Then this evening I am having a small handful of folks over for dinner and ZOMBIES! YEAH! I think I am going to make a “surf and turf” dinner tonight. I was thinking of a baked fish and a “Black & Bleu” salad. YUMMM….. All low-carb-tastic for the Rene and yummy for everyone else! LOL!
Oh yeah... DJ did awesome on his behavior this week. He was "all green" all week long and he was still able to go to D-force this month. Not sure why b/c he did get "three strikes" this month. Maybe they cut him slack or something, I don't know. Maybe they are not counting the yellow days for his three strikes anymore... I don't know. All I know is that yesterday he came home all happy b/c he got to go to D-force! That was the cream on top of the Sundae after he got a 100% on his spelling test last Friday! YEAH! So maybe he is back on track? I don't know... I am just happy for him and going with the flow as best that I can. Yesterday his class went on a walking field trip, they walked to the middle school down the road to see a production of Hansel & Gretel. He loved it and gave us the recap at Subway last night over dinner. The ladies at Subway loved his story telling and gave him a free cookies for his performance! LOL!
Me and Entertainment--- Super excited about Ghost Hunters starting back up on Sci-Fi… the premier is March 26th and I cannot wait! Yeah… Ghosties! V for Vendetta begins today too… I SOOOOO cannot wait to see that, maybe we will go see it for a Saturday Matinee? Jim and I watched a behind the scenes thing last night and I am soooo glad b/c otherwise I would have spent the whole dang night trying to figure out V’s voice (the character wears a mask for the whole movie) and then I would have missed most of the nuances of the film. LOL! It’s Hugo W! And Natalie Portman plays the female lead… whoot-whoot.. the girl gets her head shaved in the film during a dramatic scene! Movies time… yeah-yeah!
Oh and on a final note.. got a white stripe added to my belt last night... so maybe if I practice everyday between now and the 26th, I will be ready for the next belt testing in TKD?
