One more inch...

Bought a $50 wireless NIC, got my computer moved and set up, found out that I do have free wireless, but it sucks. It's most likely one of my Mom's neighbors who has a wireless home network and isn't smart enough to firewall it (or use a broadband router). In any case, I can't quite get a consistent connection that would rival dialup... so it looks like I'll be paying for internet.

I've got no problem with it -- and since I've already bought one piece of the puzzle, I'm going to go ahead and set up a total wireless network. Mom has a laptop (which is wireless ready), so all I need is a router and I'm set. Still going to suck not having internet at home for a few days, but I'm not going to be there much until Tuesday anyway.

Got the rest of my stuff out of the house this morning before work. Would have made it to work on time, but I had to get the ice off of my truck windows* which set me back a bit. I'd forgotten how much shit I had in the shop out back... I got it all, and it's currently in my truck on the back side of the parking lot. I'd wanted to wait until after work, but we have inventory tonight. Double suck. By the time 10pm rolls around, the last thing I'll want to do is slog through that lake of a back yard with my camping gear.

Whatever -- it's done. Thankfully I can park in the garage tonight, so I'm going to leave it all packed in the truck and take it to my storage tomorrow morning.

*Which is entirely unexpected when you live in southeast Texas, even in the winter; and since it happens so infrequently, I have no scraper and was thus entirely unprepared. Took me 10 minutes to deal with a delicate little layer of frost.
