Cold water is better, won't freak out the cold windshield and works the same. Learned this in Norway. =)

You might try repositioning the computer to see if you get better reception, or maybe getting a better antenna.

I've actually dragged my mom's laptop all over the house to no avail. To be honest, I'd rather just pay for it (in the name of reliability).
