oh my goodness gracious giant slugs!
Dude, guys, look at this!!! I went outside around dusk to pick some fresh basil to use in my dinner tonight (black bean burgers/croquettes/something-I-made-up-eating them now, delicious) and noticed this fat, dark shape near the pot my basil is growing in. I was curious-was it a leaf? did Finny find something for me?-so I poked it. It was squishy. I leaned in closer so I could see what this squishy thing was. IT WAS A GIANT SLUG AND THERE WAS ANOTHER ONE CRAWLING ON THE POT!!!!!!!!
With an "Oh my goodness," I dashed inside and up the stairs to grab my camera, and here are some pictures I took!
They were at least two inches long, maybe longer. And the pattern on them is so cool!! (though I couldn't see that until I took pictures with the flash on.) Also, I can't find them anywhere on or around the basil now, so my herbs seem to be safe... for now. (I couldn't possibly squish them myself! they are too cool!)
In other news, Yen Press announced my new project tonight. Fwah!! Forum reactions seem to tend toward excited, so I am happy to have been given the opportunity to work on such a well-liked series! I've only read the first volume, but I like it very much so far.
