Aaaaand an update to the vegetable mystery... I sliced open the zucchini I'd found, and it only had seeds through the bottom 1/2 or so... which means it probably was a butternut squash after all? So!! Now I am off to determine whether unripe butternut squash tastes as good as zucchini when it's cooked.

(answer: yes, it's delicious. so picking it wasn't a total waste!)
