Garden, you tricked me!! So... I had all these squash plants sprout from some of last fall/winter's compost, right? And I was dead certain they were butternut squash, or maaaaaaaaybe acorn squash. Well, apparently they're zucchini. (or else I've been doubly-tricked and unripe butternut squashes look like ripe zucchini.) I was looking around the garden and spotted what definitely looked like a full-size zucchini, and it was definitely attached to the rest of the plant. So, huh. Okay. I like zucchini too so that's cool, but I kiiinda hoped I'd get some butternut squash to eat too... (and because I thought I had like a million butternut squash plants growing, I only planted acorn and zucchini squashes. heh, I may be drowning in zucchini by summer's end.) Now I'm just wondering when I composted any zucchini with seeds ripe enough to sprout the next year. Usually the ones I bought had just dinky li'l unripened seeds. A mystery.
Today had another mystery, actually. My Yen Press editor let me know last week when she sent some work materials out, so I expected them Friday or Saturday, but I still hadn't got them today so I asked her about it, and we discovered that it had already been delivered... ... to my parents' house!?! Whaaaaaa...? The address label had my address on it and everything, but sometimes the drivers can't find my house, so usually they'd just keep trying, or else give up and send me a postcard by mail saying I needed to pick it up at the main UPS center (this latter has happened twice before). But apparently they didn't do either this time. They had my old address from when I lived with my parents on file somewhere-somehow, so after not finding my house on Friday apparently they shipped it off to the next suburb over. Sure enough, my brother found the envelope at the back door and brought it to me (I thanked him with rhubarb gelato :D) so all's well now. But still, so weird. Even more amusingly, a couple hours later I got a knock at my door and!!! Mr. UPS man was there with another envelope from YP (this time comp copies of Ugly Duckling's Love Revolution 4 (final volume!)). So. I have no idea.
And somehow it's almost 6pm already. Where did the day go?! (another mystery?) Seems like it was only 1 last thing I knew. Oh, but then Derek came over and we ate gelato and I got started on making nutella-gelato (cooling in the fridge now!)...
